Best Time to Hike

When is the Best Time to Hike the Pipiwai Trail?

The Pipiwai Trail is open year-round, and the Hawaiian weather is mostly tropical, humid and hot, even in winter.

You will find it rains throughout the year, but winter has more rain.

We usually find the rain refreshing, and unless the weather forecast has a storm warning, a bit of rain should not deter you from hiking Pipiwai Trail.

Unfortunately, that also means the trail will be muddy and slippery, with potholes filled with water. One time we went, even the wooden boardwalks were like mini-streams.

But boy, the waterfalls were at their impressive best, with flows gushing into torrents.
