The main cost you incur for hiking the Pipiwai Trail is the entrance fee for the national park, Haleakala National Park.
Luckily, the pass is valid for three days, which means you can explore both districts of Haleakala National Park, the Summit District and the Kipahulu District, with the same pass.

Parking for the Pipiwai trailhead is within the park and at the Kipahulu Visitor Center and is included with your admission fee.

As of this writing, the Haleakala National Park entrance fees are:
- Private Vehicle: $30. This fee covers all occupants of a single, private, non-commercial vehicle and is valid for 3 days. It’s the most common way visitors pay, as many arrive in rented cars or personal vehicles.
- Motorcycle: $25. If you’re traveling on two wheels, this fee applies and also grants you access for 3 days.
- Individual (foot or bicycle): $15. For those entering the park on foot or by bicycle, this fee grants individual access for 3 days.
- Annual Pass: $55. Frequent visitors might consider the Haleakalā National Park Annual Pass, which provides unlimited access to the park for one year from the date of purchase.
