Is Pipiwai Trail open?
The Pipiwai Trail and the restrooms at the trailhead are open 24 hours. However, the Kipahulu Visitor center is open only from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.

In winter, daylight fades quickly, so plan ahead and budget enough time to return during the day.
If you’re covering the scenic road to Hana on the same day, I highly recommend you leave some of the attractions along the way for your return trip so you can complete this beautiful Pipiwai Trail hike!
Or do like some people do, drive straight to the national park, hike the Pipiwai Trail early, and see all the sights on the road to Hana on the way back! That way, you’ve seen the best first, and can skip some of the smaller waterfalls.
