Pipiwai Trail Waterfall

Pipiwai Trail is a rainforest hike through a tropical jungle with many waterfalls along the way.

The main Pipiwai Trail waterfall is Waimoku Falls, a 400-foot waterfall, one of the larger ones on the island of Maui.

As the main destination and the final point of the Pipiwai Trail hike, the trail is also sometimes called the Waimoku Falls via Pipiwai Trail.

The other big Pipiwai Trail waterfall is Makahiku Falls, which you can see roughly after a half-mile hike on the Pipiwai Trail.

But as the Pipiwai Trail winds along the Pipiwai Stream, you’ll see many smaller waterfalls, some notable, others smaller cascades.

Just past the banyan tree and before the bamboo forest is one such waterfall, a smaller Pipiwai Trail waterfall, where the Palikea stream joins the Pipiwai stream.

Though smaller, after rains these waterfalls can often be gushing torrents.
